Why Choose a Nebraska Data Center?

The midwest has been the top choice for companies to locate their servers
for decades. Why? Some of the reasons are obvious and well-known -
others are not. The list below is a collection of really good reasons why
you should have your servers in a Nebraska data center.

Central Geographic Location:
Nebraska is located almost precisely in the center of the United States.
This central location allows your servers to reach clients on both coasts
with minimal latency. Our facility can ping both coasts in less than
40ms.

Abundance of Fiber Carriers:
The state has a surplus of national fiber-optic carriers to choose from.
Many major fiber lines that run coast-to-coast pass through Nebraska and
the state has a great number of areas that can be considered a
“fiber-optic cornucopia” of sorts. In such cases, fiber connections can
be easily obtained from a multitude of carriers that have lines in close
proximity to one another with minimal need for network build-out.

Public-owned, not-for-profit Statewide Power Provider:
Nebraska has the nation’s only statewide public-owned, not-for-profit
power provider. The state has historically had some of the lowest power
rates per kilowatt hour in the United States. The public power provider
has well diversified means of generation including wind, coal and nuclear
which can be assumed further stabilizes costs to the consumer.

Seismically Stable:
The region has essentially no faults and experiences little to no seismic
activity. As such, data center facilities in the area are largely immune
to direct damage and indirect damage to infrastructure resulting from
earthquakes.

Inland and Sparsely Populated:
As a result of being located well inland, the area is not susceptible to
the hurricanes that can reek havoc on coastal states. Also a direct
benefit to being located inland and having a relatively sparse population
is the reduced risk of terrorism and acts of war. The sparse population
further reduces the risk of traffic and infrastructure congestion problems
that can limit accessibility and sustainability of data assets in the
event a natural or man-made disaster happens to occur.
